Ielts Speaking Model: A Leader You Admire - Part 2
A Leader You Admire
IELTS(International English Language Testing System) is the world's leading test of English for higher education, immigration and employment. Below is a sample question and model answer for the topic ‘A Leader You Admire’
Describe a leader who you admire.
You should say:
Who the person is
What this person did or has done that you admire
How you know this person or know about this person
And explain how this leader’s qualities impressed you.
The leader I look up to is my best friend, Tony. He is the captain of my school’s soccer team and the only person in school I look up to. He is an extremely important person to me and we have known each other since primary school.
Tony is about 1.75 meters tall which is around the average height for Australians. He has a clean haircut and is very handsome – most girls find his big eyes and fit body attractive. He enjoys outdoor sports so generally he would go cycling or play soccer a few times a week.
As for his leadership skills I would have to say that not only is he a great athlete, he’s also the smartest student in my grade and has aced every exam. Because of his intelligence he is able to make an excellent strategies and quick decisions for the soccer team. What’s more is his charisma, not everyone would listen to a person like me whereas people in Tony’s team will obey his instructions without question. The reason I admire him is actually because he treats everyone with respect – I have never seen him impolite or angry at anyone. For these reasons he is my best friend. I haven’t seen him for a long time but we still keep in touch via video conferencing using the internet.
